Met Police detective 'tried to film colleague in shower' and 'had porn film showing dog

A police sergeant secretly tried to record a colleague in the shower and had a sick video of a woman receiving oral sex from a dog, a court heard.

Detective Sergent Benjamin McNish, 29, (above) tried to film a female officer with his phone camera as she showered in February last year, in a flat in Swiss Cottage, north London, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard on Friday.

His phone and other electronic devices were allegedly later seized by police when the extreme pornograohy was discovered, the court heard.

He is charged with possessing on or before Monday, February 18 2019 extreme pornographic images contrary to s.63(1) Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008.

The charge states that the video showed "a person performing oral sex with a live animal, namely , a dog which was grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character and areasonable person looking at the image would think that any such person or animal was real."

He is also charged with voyeurism in that on Monday, February 18 2019 at Adelaide Road, in Swiss Cottage, north London, he observed someone person doing a private act contrary to section 67(1) and (5) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Police said he was not on duty at the time of the alleged voyeurism.

McNish, from Downer Road North, Thundersley, Essex, spoke only to confirm his name, address, and British nationality at the brief hearing.

He has yet to enter a plea, but his lawyer indicted he would deny the offences.

Robert Morris, defending the police officer, told District Judge Angus Hamilton his client would plead not guilty to both charges.

When the former Air Cadet first joined the Met Police he was pictured with father Ken McNish, who was celebrating his 30th year with the force, and the Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe.

A Met Police report of the meeting said Mr McNish senior was "bursting with pride" at his son following in his footsteps.

McNish senior said: "I have seen my Dad's passion for the job and it is something I have always wanted to do."

After releasing details of the charges this week, the Met removed all trace of the Facebook post about the meeting from the internet.

The case was adjourned and he will next appear at Southwark Crown Court in August.
