'BROKEN BRITAIN' Mob films as security guard punched to floor outside busy shopping centre in broad daylight

Crowds of people stand and film as a security guard is knocked to the ground by an attacker in broad daylight outside one of the capital's biggest shopping centres.

Some onlookers at Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford, east London, tried to help the man or shouted 'stop it' as he lay on the ground after the attack by another man, but many were seen to film with mobile phone cameras.

A close-up of the victim on the floor showed him clutching his left ear and grimacing in pain.

The footage was shard widely on social media, including by GB News star Patrick Christys, who posted it on X with the comment: "I’m convinced Westfield Shopping Centre is just an indoor arena for gang warfare."

The shopping centre has been plagued by crime and last month yobs were filmed attacking each other inside with machetes in a mass brawl and there have been a series of stabbings in and around it in the last few years.

Another X poster said: "I used to enjoy going there with my wife. Glass of wine. Shopping and casino ect. Not anymore though. To dangerous."

The attack on the guard happened by an entrance to the shopping centre at 7.30pm on Friday, February 21.

Police officers were later called and found the member of staff who was said to have minor injuries.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm, but he has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Around 7.30pm on Friday, 21 February, police attended Westfield Stratford City, following reports that a man had assaulted staff at a shop. One staff member suffered minor injuries.

“A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He has been released on police bail pending investigation.”

The shopping centre declined to comment saying police were dealing with it.
