EXCLUSIVE: Another Albanian wanted in Italy over major drug smuggling has been found in hiding in UK
ANOTHER Albanian national who is wanted in Italy in connection with the major supply of drugs has been arrested in the UK.
Elis Lila, 35, was arrested at an undisclosed location yesterday (Friday, October 2) and brought before Westminster Magistrates' Court (above) today (Saturday, October 3).
Lila, whose address has not been disclosed was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by Italy for the offence of drug trafficking.
It brings the number of fugitive Albanians wanted by Italy, who have been arrested in the UK in recent weeks, to about 12.
Essex News and Investigations exclusively revealed how large numbers of the arrests have been made.
It is thought criminal networks in Albania are dealing directly with Colombian cocaine cartels to get shipments into Europe, before working with Italian Mafia networks to move in throughout Europe and into the UK.
There have been cases of Albanians wanted for drug supply in France, Greece and Germany also arrested in the UK before facing extradition.
Lila's case was adjourned for a further extradition hearing.
