EXCLUSIVE: Several people wanted in Poland and Romania over alleged sex and drug offences arrested in the UK

Large numbers of people wanted for serious crimes across the globe are able to get into the UK and live in the community until being arrested on European Arrest Warrants.

Several people accused of serious offences in Poland and Romania appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court after being arrested in the UK.

Five men and a woman wanted over sexual or organised crime offences appeared at the court for extradition hearings on Thursday, February 6 2025.

These cases are just a snapshot of those that are heard at the court most weekdays due to the huge numbers of foreign fugitives and suspects being found in the country.

The court heard that Krzysztof Zbigniew Kowalski, 34, (above) of Village Way, Beckenham, south London, was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant from Poland and brought before the court, which handles extradition cases for England and Wales.

He is contesting extradition and was refused bail on grounds that he would be "likely to abscond, due to the nature and seriousness of offence" and the fact he has "no status in the UK."

He was remanded into custody and the case was adjourned for a second bail application later this month towards a full hearing in May.

The same court heard that Cezar Lucian Arvinte, 45, (seen left in the main top image of the report) from Gordon Street, Wigan, is wanted in Romania to face accusations of sexual assault/rape of a child.

He was remanded in custody until Monday, February 10, when he will be asked if he consents to be extradited.

Krzysztof Cybulski, 40, (in the above picture) of Buckleigh Road, south west London, is wanted by Poland for the alleged offences of being a member of an organised crime group (OCG), drug trafficking and drink driving.

He was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing later this month.

Also wanted in Poland for alleged drug offences is Adriana Banomova, 37, (seen in both above images) of Buxton Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire.

The court heard she is wanted for the alleged offences of importation of drugs and participation in an OCG.

She was remanded in custody until Tuesday, February 11, for a second bail application.

The court refused the first one after hearing that she would be "likely to abscond due" to the "nature

and seriousness of offence" and her "ability to cross borders."

Apoloniusz Markowski, 37, (seen on the right in the main top image of this report) from Godfrey Avenue, Northolt, Middlesex, is wanted in Poland for to serve a conviction for supplying drugs and GBH.

He was remanded in custody until Valentines Day for a second bail application after the first was refused due to him being a fugitive with a substantial sentence to serve who gave false details upon his arrest in the UK.

Ionut Burghelea, 49, (seen in the image above) from Boulevard Drive, Edgware, north west London, is wanted in Romania over allegations of participation in a criminal organisation, swindling and forgery.

He has been fighting extradition and the case was adjourned until later this month for the judgement.

He was released on conditional bail.
