EXCLUSIVE: Senior female detective accused of 'sexually harassing' male colleagues at police force plagued by claims of misogyny

A senior female detective has been accused of sexually harassing male colleagues at a police force plagued by claims it is full of misogynistic men.

Acting DS Lisa Jones faces allegations she engaged in inappropriate behaviour towards male colleagues which "amounted to sexual harassment and discriminatory language."

She has been suspended from duty on full pay for nearly two years since May 4 2023 after the allegations surfaced.

The force has been swamped with cases of alleged misconduct involving male officers accused of sexual assault and harassment and misogynistic behaviour for the past few years.

In March 2023 Baroness Casey branded the Met "institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic" after carrying out a major inquiry into cultures within the force in the wake of the Wayne Couzens and David Carrick scandals.

Couzens, 52, used his police warrant card to kidnap Sarah Everard, 33, during the lockdown in south London before taking her to Kent where he raped and murdered her and disposed of her body in March 2021.

After he was given a whole life term in September 2021, after admitting the horrific offences, the Met launched an ongoing purge to try to rid the force of officers engaged in inappropriate behaviour.

It led to a huge rise in misconduct cases, particularly involving allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour by men.

Following the Couzens scandal, a woman reported Carrick, who served in the same armed Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command as the killer, for rape.

The publicity brought forward several more victims and Carrick, 50, has since been convicted of multiple counts of rape from 2002 to 2021 and In 2023, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of more than thirty years, which further fuelled the ongoing purge of the force.

The allegations faced by Jones, who is based within the East Area Command Unit, are highly unusual against the 'misogynistic' image the force has acquired.

A public notice published ahead of a four-day misconduct hearing set to begin in south-east London on September 2 states: "(She) will answer allegations that her conduct amounted to breaches of standards of professional behaviour, in respect of equality and diversity, authority, respect and courtesy.

"It is alleged that acting DS Lisa Jones engaged in inappropriate behaviour towards her male colleagues. Lisa Jones' behaviour amounted to sexual harassment and discriminatory language.

"It is alleged that in acting this way acting DS Lisa Jones has breached the standards of professional behaviour and that this conduct, if proven, amounts to gross misconduct in that it is so serious as to justify dismissal."
