EXPENSIVE MEAL: Man who stole two yoghurts to feed himself out of desperation is fined £134
A MAN who stole two yoghurts and a drink out of desperation was ordered to pay £134.
Lee Samways, 59, from Woburn View, Little Waltham, near Chelmsford, Essex, pleaded guilty to stealing the items from Tesco at Bishopsgate, near Liverpool Street, London, on January 6 this year.
A separate offence of breaching bail conditions while he was living at the Oasis Hotel in Harlow (below) between December 20 and 21 in connection with his release on bail by Colchester Magistrates' Court on November 8 was withdrawn.
Samways appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday (January 7) when he admitted the theft offence.
He was fined £100 with a £34 victim surcharge.
A record of the court hearing said the "goods were recovered" and he "had no means to pay" and "stole to feed himself."
