VIOLENT UK: Residents' shock as murder probe launched after body found in hallway of tower block

A MURDER probe has been launched after a man found with serious injuries in a Birmingham tower block died.

The man was discovered in the hallway of a block of flats in Guild Close, Ladywood, at around 9.10am on Saturday, October 8.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Tragically nothing could be done to revive the man, understood to be aged in his 30s, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

We're in the very early stages of our investigation and currently carrying out extensive enquiries in the area.

"A forensic post mortem to establish the man's cause of death will be held in due course."

Residents spoke of their shock at the murder, Birmingham Live reported.

One told the website: "I can't believe someone has been murdered here. This tower needs cameras - there are none."

Locals said three ambulances and half a dozen police cars had swooped on the block on Saturday morning.
